Because Jesus told us to let even the little children come to him (Mark 10:14), we highly value ministry to children beginning at the earliest ages.  Our Mission is to help children become passionate followers of Jesus Christ. 

There are five Core Values that serve as gauges for our ministries to children: 

1. Think safety

2. Teach the Bible creatively

3. Partner with parents

4. Pay attention to child development

5. Have fun

Psalm 78:1-4 reads, “Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the word of my mouth.  I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark saysings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.  We will not hide them from their children, telling the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done!”  We take ministering to children seriously, and we earnestly desire to see them become mighty men and women of faith. 

The teaching method we use to accomplish the Mission Statement and Core Values is KNOW the Story (2 Timothy 3:16), LIVE the Story (John 10:10), TELL the Story (Matthew 28:19).  

Birth thru Pre-K

Significant ministry to children begins as infants (0-12 months).  Here a foundation of prayer begins, as godly men and women are encouraged to “pray without ceasing” for these little ones.  As language develops (13-24 months), we begin introducing Biblical truths through frequent use and illustration.  We trust that the Holy Spirit will bring understanding and produce faith.  This pattern of prayer and instruction continues with toddlers (2 year olds) by building a Biblical vocabulary and helping children see a great God through Bible stories they can understand.  A Biblical foundation is laid with preschoolers (3 year olds-PreK) as Old and New Testament stories reveal who God is and what He is like. 

For Preschoolers, our teaching method is:

KNOW: Understand that the Bible is the Word of God.  Learn Biblical truths.  Begin learning how to worship God.

LIVE: Learn to make choices that please God.  Reach out to others through missions.

TELL: Share what you learn about Jesus with your family, friends and neighbors.

Kindergarten through 5th Grade

When children enter Kindergarten, they begin developing their understanding of the Bible and learning how to live out Scripture in their daily lives.  Children are encouraged to bring their Bible, memorize weekly key verses, participate in the worship experience and invite their friends to come to church and/or church sponsored events.  As children progress through each grade they are provided with service opportunities that allow them to begin learning responsibility and commitment within the 2Rivers community.  By the time they reach 5th grade, our desire is that they KNOW the Story, are LIVING it out in very practical ways and are TELLING the Story to their family, friends and community.

For Elementary-age children, our teaching method is:

KNOW: Begin to develop an understanding of the Bible.  Worship God.

LIVE: Learn to glorify God with your daily lifestyle.  Reach out to others.

TELL: Boldy share your beliefs with others and invite them to church.
