We won’t experience God’s grace and mercy at the level He intends for us unless we pause at the moment at which we realize that we are sinners — the “woe moment” of Isaiah 6:5. When we are truly aware of our sinful condition, what is our response? Repentance.

In Isaiah 6:5, the prophet Isaiah caught a glimpse of God. Isaiah’s response was “Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclea lips …” Isaiah’s message was that we all are sinners. We are born with a sinful nature, and have wicked hearts, despite what our culture would have us believe.
