Last week, in the 11th sermon in the series “The Pursuit of Happiness: A Study of Philippians”, Ron preached from Philippians 3:12-16, and encouraged us to stop dwelling on the past (good or bad), and move on with what God has for us right now, and looking to the future, with perfect union with Christ as our ultimate goal and the treasure of our lives. If you feel God encouraging you to further study this topic, John Piper has written several books on the subject. I recommend Future Grace and Don’t Waste Your Life. Future Grace is a declaration of God’s purpose and absolute ability to finish the work He has begun in the lives of His chosen children, and gives us hope that we can indeed press on. Don’t Waste Your Life is a clarion wake up call intended to stir us from our slumber and apathy. They are both challenging, insightful, Scripture saturated books that have encouraged and challenged me in my pursuit of Christlikeness, and have helped me to know more of God. I pray they do the same for you. -Nathan |
